ICC Nominates Pakistani Star Batter as Player of the Month

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has been shortlisted for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2026 after a record-breaking run in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka and India.

Sahibzada Farhan finished the tournament as its leading run-getter, piling up 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.25 and an outstanding average of 76.60.

In the process, the right-hander set a new benchmark for the most runs in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup, going past Virat Kohli’s previous record of 319 from the 2014 tournament.

The Pakistani star batsman also made history by becoming the first batter to hit two centuries in one Men’s T20 World Cup edition, reaching three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka.

His consistency at the top of the order powered Pakistan into the Super 8 stage, where they fell just short of a semi-final spot.

Sahibzada Farhan will face competition from England’s Will Jacks, whose all-round impact helped his side reach the semi-finals. The Englishman scored 226 runs, including the fastest fifty for England as well as 9 wickets in 8 matches.

The other nominated player is USA’s fast bowler Van Schalkwyk, who stood out among the tournament’s most effective wicket-takers. The 37-year-old took 13 wickets in just four games, including back-to-back four-wicket hauls, taking 4/25 against India and 4/25 against Pakistan.
