Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Could Finally Get a Bigger Battery

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold lineup has retained the same 4,400 mAh battery capacity since the Galaxy Z Fold3 launched in 2021. Earlier, the Galaxy Z Fold2 from 2020 actually featured a larger 4,500 mAh battery.

Expected Battery Upgrade

A new report suggests Samsung may increase battery capacity with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8, which is expected to launch later this year. However, the improvement is likely to be modest.

The Fold8 is rumored to feature a 5,000 mAh battery, bringing it in line with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. While this capacity is not considered high compared to competing foldable devices, it would represent an increase of nearly 14% over previous Fold models since the Fold3.

Dual Battery Setup Details

According to the report, the Galaxy Z Fold8 will continue to use a dual-battery system, with one battery placed on each side of the device. These are said to have rated capacities of 2,369 mAh and 2,485 mAh, for a combined rated capacity of 4,854 mAh.

This figure will reportedly be marketed as a typical capacity of 5,000 mAh.

Wider Fold Variant Also Expected

The report also mentions a separate “wide Fold” model that Samsung may introduce alongside the Fold8. This version is said to feature a 4,900 mAh battery and is designed to compete with Apple’s rumored iPhone Fold by offering a similar form factor.

Launch Timeline

Both the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the wider Fold variant are expected to be announced around July.
