Fire Breaks Out in Karachi Shopping Mall Basement

A fire erupted in the basement of a shopping mall on Tariq Road in Karachi on Tuesday, prompting an immediate emergency response.

Fire brigade teams were dispatched without delay, and five fire trucks reached the scene to control the situation. The firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building, preventing further damage.

Chief Fire Officer Humayun said the fire caused damage to two to three shops located in the basement area of the mall.

During the operation, the condition of two firefighters deteriorated while they were actively dousing the flames.

Following the incident, the Market Association commended the fire brigade for its timely response and announced a cash reward of Rs. 1 million for the firefighting team. An additional Rs. 200,000 was awarded to firefighter Iskandar, whose condition worsened during the operation.

The president of the Market Association said the prompt action by the fire brigade prevented greater losses and deserved recognition.

The cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
