K-Electric Appoints Shaheryar Chishty as Acting Chairman

K-Electric (KE) has announced the appointment of Shaheryar Chishty to serve as acting chairman in the absence of Mark Skelton, the company said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.

The board had previously appointed Shaheryar Arshad Chishty as an alternate director to Skelton last week, effective immediately. In its meeting on 17 March 2026, KE confirmed Chishty’s role to perform chairman duties during Skelton’s absence.

Chishty is the founder of AsiaPak Investments, established in 2011, which has grown into one of Pakistan’s leading infrastructure investment firms. Prior to founding AsiaPak, he had an extensive career in investment banking in Hong Kong, working at Citigroup and Nomura.

At Citigroup, Chishty held senior positions including Head of Asia Industrials and Head of North Asia Mergers & Acquisitions until 2009. From 2009 to 2012, he served at Nomura International as Asia Head of Industrials Investment Banking and later as Global Head of Industrials Investment Banking. Over his 18-year investment banking career, he raised more than $18 billion in debt and equity capital and advised on mergers and acquisitions exceeding $60 billion in value.

Chishty’s appointment comes amid leadership changes at the power utility. Following the resignation of Moonis Alvi as CEO in February, Adeeb Ahmad was named interim CEO with immediate effect.
