Pakistan to Observe Earth Hour Tomorrow

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to observe Earth Hour 2026 across Pakistan by switching off non-essential lights. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the lights will be turned off from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 28.

The prime minister instructed all ministries, divisions, provincial governments and public institutions to participate in the global campaign under this year’s theme, “Give an Hour for Earth”.

The initiative encourages individuals and organizations to dedicate one hour to actions that support environmental protection, energy conservation and climate awareness.

Earth Hour is a global movement launched by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007 and is now observed in more than 190 countries and territories. The campaign is marked each year by a symbolic switch-off of non-essential lights, with governments, institutions and households participating simultaneously.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the initiative, with a focus on promoting practical steps for sustainability, biodiversity protection and climate action.
