The Federal Board of Revenue has initiated disciplinary proceedings against customs officers and officials working on an attachment basis without prior intimation or consultation with their parent collectorates or formations.
FBR issued fresh instructions to customs field formations, directing them to immediately report cases involving misconduct or unauthorized absence from duty to the Board.
According to the FBR, several instances of disciplinary matters, particularly cases related to unauthorized absence, have not been reported in a timely manner by field offices, prompting the move to tighten internal oversight.
Under the new directives, all heads of field formations have been asked to ensure strict compliance, while Assistant Collectors and Deputy Collectors at headquarters level will be responsible for monitoring attendance and ensuring prompt reporting of violations.
The tax authority further directed that any misconduct involving attached officers requiring disciplinary action must be immediately brought to the Board’s notice for further proceedings.
