PCB Issues Strict Warning to Players Over Unauthorized Social Media Activity

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a strict warning to players over potential breaches of their central contracts, particularly in relation to social media activity.

According to sources, cricketers have been directed not to share any posts on social media without prior approval from the PCB’s media department. Players have also been instructed to strictly adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in their central contracts.

The board has reportedly extended these guidelines to players’ managers as well, ensuring that all representatives are fully aware of the communication protocols and restrictions in place.

Sources further revealed that the PCB has made it clear that politically sensitive or controversial posts will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any violation of these guidelines could lead to strict disciplinary action.

In addition, the board has warned that players found sharing objectionable or unauthorized content could face significant financial penalties, with fines potentially starting from Rs. 10 million for serious violations.

The warning from the PCB follows a high‑profile incident in which fast bowler Naseem Shah was slapped with a record fine of Rs. 20 million for breaching central contract terms and social media guidelines over a deleted post that appeared to criticize Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) opening ceremony.
