More than 400,000 KitKat bars have been stolen from a delivery truck during transit across Europe.
The chocolate consignment, produced by Swiss food giant Nestlé, was reportedly en route from a factory in central Italy to Poland when it disappeared.
According to an official statement, the truck carrying the shipment, weighing nearly 12 tons, has gone missing along with its cargo. Authorities are now working closely with supply chain partners to trace the vehicle and recover the goods.
The company confirmed that exactly 413,793 chocolate bars were stolen in the incident. Each bar carries a unique batch number, allowing it to be tracked. The brand has urged anyone who comes across suspicious stock to report it immediately.
In a light-hearted remark, a spokesperson said the thieves may have taken the brand’s famous slogan a bit too seriously. “We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat, but it seems someone made a break with 12 ton of it,” the statement read.
Despite the humor, the company acknowledged that cargo theft is becoming a serious and growing problem worldwide. A joint report by the International Union of Marine Insurance and the Transported Asset Protection Association highlighted that such crimes are increasing in both frequency and sophistication.
The brand reassured consumers that there are no safety concerns related to the stolen products and that overall supply remains unaffected.
