Crackdown on Fancy Number Plates Launched Across the Province

The Sindh government has initiated a province-wide crackdown against vehicles using fancy, fake, or unregistered number plates, with enforcement starting from April 1.

Traffic police have begun taking action against vehicles that do not comply with the prescribed number plate standards, including those operating without any plates. Authorities said both cars and motorcycles will face strict checks during the campaign.

Motorcyclists have been directed to ensure that number plates are installed on both the front and rear. Citizens who have not yet received official plates from the Excise Department have been advised to use plates that match the government-approved design.

The operation is being carried out in coordination with district police, traffic police, the Citizens Police Liaison Committee, the Excise Department, and the Driving Licence Branch.

Officials said drivers without a valid licence will be issued a learner’s licence on the spot.

Authorities will allow a 24-hour window for owners of vehicles without number plates to install compliant plates. After that, impounded vehicles and motorcycles will be released without any fine.

  • This is the equivalent of fancy stationery in schools not being allowed. I understand fake but fancy should be allowed. It effects the look of the car. Very unfortunate we live in a world limiting beauty and expression. They probably are doing it for AI recognition

  • In hard hitting situation of inflation, Govt should give relaxation to their citizens to atleast install the number plates which are resembles with approved number plates
