Multan Sultans Set New PSL Record With Victory Over Hyderabad Kingsmen

Multan Sultans etched their name into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history after pulling off the highest successful run chase ever recorded at Gaddafi Stadium.

The former champions defeated newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen in a high-scoring thriller to stay unbeaten in the ongoing PSL 11.

Chasing a massive 226, Multan Sultans got home with four wickets in hand and eight balls to spare, breaking the previous venue record set earlier this season when Peshawar Zalmi chased 215 against RawalPindiz.

Sahibzada Farhan was the star of the night as he produced a stunning unbeaten century to lead the chase. The right-hander stayed composed under pressure and finished with 106 not out off 57 balls, striking seven fours and eight sixes in a match-winning knock.

He was well supported by Steve Smith, who made 46 at the top, while Shan Masood chipped in with 29. Arafat Minhas then applied the finishing touches with an unbeaten 26 off 11 deliveries.

Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen had put themselves in a commanding position after posting 225 for five in their 20 overs. Maaz Sadaqat gave them early momentum with a rapid 62 off only 26 balls, while Sharjeel Khan anchored the innings late and remained unbeaten on 51. Their efforts helped Hyderabad register one of the biggest totals seen at the Lahore venue.

Multan’s bowlers struggled for long periods, but Mohammad Wasim Jr stood out with two wickets for 37 runs in his four overs. Mohammad Nawaz, Peter Siddle, and captain Ashton Turner picked up one wicket each.

Despite the steep target, Multan’s batting lineup never allowed the asking rate to spiral out of control. Farhan’s brilliance turned the chase into a statement win and ensured the Sultans left Lahore with a new PSL record to their name.
