All Samsung Smart TVs are Getting a Free Upgrade and Here’s How You Can Get Yours

Samsung is rolling out a software update that adds native Google Cast support to its smart TVs, bringing a feature that was previously missing from the platform.

The update is being released starting now and will be available across Samsung’s 2026 TV lineup, with select models from 2023 and 2024 also expected to receive it.

What the Upgrade Brings

The update introduces native Google Cast, allowing users to stream content directly from a phone or tablet to their TV using link-based sharing.

Until now, Samsung TVs have relied on Smart View or Apple AirPlay for screen mirroring. While these tools offered similar functionality, they worked differently from Google Cast.

With Smart View and AirPlay, the TV mirrors exactly what is displayed on the phone. In contrast, Google Cast sends a content link to the TV, allowing playback to continue independently while users can still use their phone without interruption.

Availability Across Models

Samsung’s 2026 TV models are set to receive the update, and several earlier models from 2023 and 2024 are also included. This includes devices such as the Samsung S95D.

The addition of Google Cast comes after years of Samsung TVs operating without native support for the feature, despite offering alternative casting methods.

How to Check if Your TV Has the Update

Users can confirm whether the update has been installed by checking if casting is available on supported apps such as Netflix. The presence of a Cast option indicates that the feature is active.

Alternatively, users can manually check for the update through the TV settings. Navigate to Settings, then Support, followed by Software Update, and select “Update Now” to install the latest version of the One UI interface.
