A Pakistani national has been executed in Makkah after being convicted of heroin smuggling, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Interior.
The ministry said the execution was carried out in Makkah a day earlier after the accused was found guilty of smuggling narcotics into the kingdom.
According to the statement, security forces had arrested the individual on charges of heroin trafficking and registered a case against him. The court later convicted the accused, and the sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court before receiving approval through a royal decree.
The ministry said the death sentence was implemented following the completion of all legal procedures. It added that strict penalties will continue to be enforced against individuals involved in drug smuggling
