The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) and the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association (APPPOA) have warned of a potential nationwide closure of petrol pumps if their demands for increased commissions are not met.
At a press conference in Islamabad, PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan said dealers are united and could sell off pumps or shut down operations if the government does not raise their commission to 8 percent.
He accused authorities of imposing excessive taxes and not consulting industry stakeholders.
APPPOA Chairman Humayun Khan added that petrol dealers’ businesses are becoming unsustainable under the current commission system, especially amid rising fuel prices, smuggled petrol influx, and inspections by unrelated authorities.
The associations called for a proportional commission system tied to fuel price fluctuations and urged the government to address their demands promptly to prevent disruption of fuel supply nationwide.
