Hyderabad Kingsmen Batter Eyes Strong PSL Comeback After Major Weight Loss

Aggressive batter Sharjeel Khan, representing Hyderabad Kingsmen, says he is determined to make a strong comeback in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) after undergoing a major fitness transformation that saw him lose 28 kilograms over the past two years.

Speaking in an interview, Sharjeel said the break from PSL was challenging but allowed him to focus on improving his fitness and refining his game. He added that he aims to use the league as a platform to push for a return to higher levels of cricket.

He admitted that returning to form after a long gap is difficult, but said he had prepared thoroughly. “It’s not easy to perform immediately after a long break, but I have worked hard for this comeback,” he said.

Sharjeel said the period away from PSL also helped him understand the level of fitness and discipline required to sustain a long professional career, describing it as a realization that came late but proved important.

He also revealed that he worked with a professional trainer and dietitian to lose 28 kilograms, a process that not only improved his fitness but also helped him adopt a healthier lifestyle.

During this time, he remained active in domestic cricket and various leagues to stay match-ready, while continuing to work on his fitness.

Commenting on Hyderabad Kingsmen’s performance, Sharjeel said the team is still settling as a new unit and will need time to find the right combination. He expressed optimism that the team will improve during the Karachi leg.

“We just need one win. After that, our momentum will change,” he said.

On his role in the team, Sharjeel said he adjusted to batting in the middle order based on team requirements. He began preparing for the role around six weeks before the squad was finalized to ensure he could contribute effectively.

Regarding personal targets, he said his main focus is to contribute to team victories, adding that he aims to deliver match-winning performances in at least three to four games.

Sharjeel also highlighted the impact of missing crowds, saying their absence is strongly felt. “Crowds in Pakistan are always a source of energy. We hope fans return in upcoming matches so we can enjoy the game even more,” he said.

He added that the PSL provides an important platform not only for emerging players but also for experienced cricketers looking to re-establish themselves, and said he is ready to make the most of the opportunity.
