Tax officers supported by government enforcement agencies have carried out coordinated action against two major housing developers in Lahore as part of a joint operation led by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), top sources well-informed on the matter told ProPakistani.
According to sources, multiple FBR teams conducted raids at the offices of Al Noor Orchards and Al Kabir Town in Lahore following directions linked to tax enforcement efforts by the Chief Tax Office (CTO) Lahore.
Officials said that five joint FBR teams participated in the operation, during which business records and financial documents from previous years were taken into custody for examination.
Sources said the action was aimed at reviewing tax compliance, payment records, and financial transactions of the developer groups. The operation is being described as an effort to strengthen tax enforcement and ensure recovery of outstanding dues.
The Chief Tax Office Lahore supervised the operation. It was one of the biggest recent actions targeting large-scale real estate developers in the city, sources added.
Al Kabir Town is a large private housing project on Raiwind Road developed by Al‑Kabir Developers that has attracted both investors and controversy.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigated alleged fraud and improper approvals by the company in 2020, though the developer has consistently denied wrongdoing and maintains that approvals were obtained before development work.
Al Noor Orchard by Al‑Jalil Developers is marketed as an LDA‑approved residential community on Sharqpur Road and is popular with buyers for its location and installment plans.
On social forums, many investors allege paying instalments for years without clear possession, high development charges, delayed progress in some blocks, and even claims that only some parts of the project are fully approved by LDA while extensions await legal status.
