Xiaomi is expected to introduce the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in September, roughly one year after the release of their predecessors.
A new rumor from a tipster on X suggests that both models will use the same 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
The reported periscope lens is said to feature an 85mm focal length, which is notably shorter than the 115mm focal length found in the 50MP periscope cameras on the previous generation.
This change indicates that the upcoming models may offer 3x or 3.5x optical zoom, compared to the 5x zoom available on the current lineup. Focus on High-Resolution Zoom
With the adoption of a higher-resolution 200MP sensor, Xiaomi is expected to emphasize enhanced digital zoom capabilities. The company may promote “lossless” zoom levels reaching 6x, 7x, or higher.
This approach could offset concerns about the reduced optical zoom range compared to the previous generation.
Both devices are rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display and a battery capacity of 7,000 mAh or more.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could come with a larger 6.9-inch display, along with narrower bezels compared to its predecessor.
