Xiaomi may already be working on its next software update, HyperOS 4, as new leaks reveal early details about the platform.
According to the information, the upcoming version could introduce significant changes beyond a typical update.
The leak, shared by tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, suggests that HyperOS 4 will bring notable changes to the core user interface.
While specific details were not provided, the update is said to move away from Xiaomi’s current design language toward a more modern and cohesive look.
The report also mentions that Xiaomi is working on a Leica-inspired color palette for system-wide use.
This could introduce a high-contrast, premium visual style across the interface, expanding beyond its previous use in camera features.
Beyond visual updates, the changes are expected to extend to the system level.
According to industry sources cited by Ximitime, Xiaomi may be removing remaining elements of its legacy MIUI framework.
The company is also reportedly rewriting core system applications using the RUST programming language, which could improve system fluidity and security.
Xiaomi has not officially confirmed HyperOS 4, but reports suggest it could launch alongside the Xiaomi 18 series in the third quarter of 2026.
Beta testing is expected to begin in August.
