The father of cricketers Sameer Minhas and Arafat Minhas has shared the story of his sons’ journey, as both players continue to make an impact in the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).
In a video shared on the PSL’s official Instagram account, he recalled that both boys started playing cricket at home with toys, a plastic egg. Over time, he noticed their improvement, especially in their ability to judge the ball and play proper shots, which convinced him they had natural talent.
He then took them to the ground, began formal training, and enrolled them in a cricket club. To further develop their skills, he arranged coaching under PCB Level Two coach Tahir Mahmood Faiz, crediting him for helping his sons reach the professional level.
Their progress is now visible in PSL 2026. Sameer Minhas, representing Islamabad United, has emerged as one of the standout young performers of the tournament. He has scored over 200 runs in five matches, including multiple half-centuries, placing him among the leading run-scorers this season .
Earlier in the tournament, he made a strong impression with 180 runs in his first three innings at an average of 90, highlighting his consistency and impact . His performances have quickly established him as one of the most promising young batters in the league.
Meanwhile, Arafat Minhas has played an important all-round role for Multan Sultans. Batting in the lower order, he has scored over 80 runs with a strike rate exceeding 180, showing his ability to accelerate in pressure situations .
In addition to his batting, he has contributed with the ball, taking key wickets and maintaining control in the middle overs . His role as a finisher has added balance to his team.
Speaking about the challenges behind this success, their father said managing business responsibilities alongside cricket commitments was difficult. He often traveled long distances, sometimes 100 to 200 kilometers from Multan, to take them to matches.
He added that his wife played a vital role, as both parents spent hours at grounds watching matches and supporting their sons during regional selections.
Describing their personalities, he said Arafat was more mischievous, while Sameer remained calm and quiet. He maintained a strict routine for their education, diet, and training to prepare them for long-term cricket careers.
He expressed hope that both brothers will represent Pakistan at the international level. He also said he hopes their performances will bring fans back to stadiums and renew interest in cricket.
