Govt Exempts Two Power Companies from Daily Load Shedding Plan

The Power Division has announced that K-Electric and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) will be exempted from the federal government’s daily peak-hour load management plan.

Earlier, the division had announced that electricity supply would be suspended for around 2.25 hours daily between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM across the country under its “peak relief strategy” to manage rising demand.

However, in a subsequent statement, the spokesperson clarified that the load management plan will not be implemented in areas served by K-Electric and HESCO. The decision was attributed to the lower reliance of both distribution companies on furnace oil for power generation.

The spokesperson said that relatively cheaper electricity is available in the southern region, which is being utilized within the jurisdictions of both utilities.

As a result, consumers in these areas will not face additional outages under the peak-hour plan, and the benefit of lower-cost electricity will be passed on to them.
