Lenovo is Returning to the Gaming Phone Market With a Motorola Style Phone

Lenovo is preparing to return to the gaming smartphone market with a new Legion device, marking its first release in the segment since 2022. But the twist here is that it could be based on a Motorola phone design, a brand that we have never seen in the gaming segment.

The company confirmed that a refreshed version of the Legion Y70 will launch in May. The previous model, the Legion Y70, was introduced in 2022, and no new gaming phone has followed since then.

Lenovo said it has received consistent feedback from users asking for a new Legion smartphone, which led to the development of this upcoming device. The new model will be called Y70 New Generation, based on a machine-translated name from Chinese.

Focus on AI-Enhanced Gaming

Lenovo indicated that the device will incorporate artificial intelligence features aimed at improving the gaming experience. However, the company has not provided further details about how these AI capabilities will function.

The early look of the device shows a design that closely resembles smartphones from Motorola. Lenovo owns Motorola, and the new Legion device appears to reuse elements from Motorola’s design language.

Despite the similarities, Legion branding is visible on the back of the device, distinguishing it from Motorola-branded phones.

The upcoming handset is expected to compete with gaming smartphones from brands such as RedMagic.

Lenovo has not disclosed any specifications for the Y70 New Generation, and there have been no confirmed leaks so far. It remains unclear whether the device will target the flagship segment.

More information is expected to emerge closer to the official launch.
