Pakistan has formally launched the Pakistan National Medical Tourism Initiative under the Special Investment Facilitation Council, aiming to position the country as a regional hub for affordable and high-quality medical services.
The announcement was made during the 30th annual conference of the Pakistan Association of Plastic Surgeons, which brought together over 400 delegates and international experts despite regional challenges.
Organized at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences under the leadership of Abdul Khaliq Malik, the conference showcased advanced surgical techniques, research presentations, and live workshops.
Experts highlighted modern procedures such as Botox, fillers, and reconstructive surgeries, reflecting global trends in plastic surgery.
Prominent international specialists, including Eva Maria and Nick Wilson John, participated in the event, strengthening global collaboration in the field.
Officials, including Health Secretary Aslam Ghauri and SIFC Director General Asadur Rehman Cheema, said the initiative aims to attract international patients by offering cost-effective and quality healthcare services in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal reviewed progress on telemedicine services by Sehat Kahani. The platform has expanded to eight facilities in Islamabad and Karachi, serving thousands of patients.
Officials said the telemedicine initiative has saved around Rs8 million by reducing travel costs and improving access to healthcare, with women making up 65% of beneficiaries.
The government plans to further expand such initiatives to strengthen healthcare delivery and boost Pakistan’s global medical profile.
