The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a customer alert warning passengers about fraudsters impersonating airline representatives on social media and messaging platforms while promoting a fake mobile application.
In its official notice, the national carrier urged customers to stay cautious of fake accounts and unverified contacts claiming to represent the airline. It also clarified that app downloads are not facilitated through agents or unofficial links.
PIA advised passengers to install its mobile application only through official app stores or the airline’s official channels. It also warned customers not to share personal or financial information with unknown individuals.
The warning comes amid a rise in cyber fraud cases in Pakistan, where scammers have been using the airline’s branding to push fake discount offers and suspicious download links.
Such scams can expose users to malware, financial theft and misuse of personal data, prompting PIA to remind passengers to verify all communication before responding.
