The Sindh government has set the wheat support price at Rs. 3,500 per maund, signaling a strong push to support farmers ahead of the procurement season.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the government has also fixed a wheat procurement target of 1 million metric tons, describing the move as a clear indication of farmer-friendly policies aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector.
He said the decision to end the wheat sales limit and remove the condition of five bags per acre will allow growers to sell their produce more freely at official procurement centers. The move is expected to reduce barriers that previously affected smaller farmers.
Memon said the policy will directly benefit small cultivators, enabling them to access government purchasing channels without restrictions and ensuring better price realization for their crops.
The minister added that authorities have been directed to accelerate the procurement campaign and take targeted measures in districts where procurement levels remain low to ensure the overall target is achieved.
He also highlighted the role of Sindh Bank in providing fuel subsidies to farmers within one day, calling it an example of transparency and efficiency. He said timely payments worth millions of rupees have helped build confidence among farmers.
