KP Installs Panic Buttons at 68 Locations in Major City

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) have installed panic buttons at 68 locations across Peshawar under the Safe City Project to improve emergency response and help citizens contact police without delay.

According to an official statement, the panic buttons are directly linked to the Safe City headquarters and come equipped with both audio and video communication features. This will allow citizens to report emergencies on the spot while enabling authorities to assess the situation in real time.

Officials said the new system has been introduced to provide faster assistance in emergency situations. Once a panic button is pressed, police teams can be alerted immediately and dispatched without unnecessary delay.

The initiative is aimed at improving safety in busy public areas, particularly for students, women and other citizens who may need urgent help in crowded locations.

KP police chief Zulfiqar Hameed said the facility would strengthen public safety and ensure quicker police response where it is needed most. He also said similar systems will be introduced in other cities in the future.

The installation marks another step in expanding technology-based policing tools in urban areas, with authorities hoping the system will make it easier for citizens to seek help during emergencies.
