Govt Delays Lifting Austerity Measures After Trump Rejects Iran War Proposal

The federal government has extended its ongoing austerity and fuel conservation measures until June 13, 2026, according to an official notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

The decision comes on the recommendations of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, and takes effect immediately.

As per the notification, several restrictions will remain in place, including:

  • 50% reduction in fuel allocation for official vehicles
  • 60% of government vehicles to remain grounded
  • Complete ban on foreign visits and official travel, with limited exceptions already defined in earlier notifications

The Cabinet Division clarified that all previously notified austerity measures will continue to apply, and any measures without a defined end date will remain effective until further notice.
