Pakistan Launching New Online System for Workers Welfare Fund Services

The federal government is set to launch a new digital portal for the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) aimed at simplifying financial assistance services for industrial workers across Pakistan.

The portal has been developed by the National Information Technology Board in collaboration with the Workers Welfare Fund as part of the country’s broader e-governance initiative.

According to officials, testing of the digital system is currently underway, and the portal is expected to be launched soon. The online platform will allow workers to complete the entire financial assistance process digitally, including submission of applications, scrutiny, verification, and final approval through a single system.

Officials said the initiative is designed to make welfare services more transparent, efficient, and accessible for industrial labourers. The digital mechanism is also expected to reduce paperwork, shorten processing time, and improve coordination between departments dealing with workers’ welfare cases.

The Workers Welfare Fund, established under the Workers Welfare Fund Ordinance 1971, provides welfare support to industrial workers and their families through housing schemes, scholarships, marriage grants, death grants, and other assistance programmes.

Officials said the new portal is being viewed as a major step towards modernising the delivery of welfare services for workers across the country.
