Saudi Arabia Launches ‘Hajj Without Luggage’ Service

Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced a new “Hajj Without Luggage” service for the 2026 pilgrimage season, allowing pilgrims to ship their baggage directly from their home countries to accommodations in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative aims to reduce travel difficulties and improve movement for pilgrims during Hajj by minimizing the need to carry luggage through airports and holy sites.

According to the ministry, the service is being launched in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and several other institutions involved in Hajj operations.

Under the system, specialized companies collect luggage from departure airports, transport it to Saudi Arabia, and deliver it directly to hotels in Makkah and Madinah after arrival through airports including Jeddah and Madinah.

Authorities said the system will allow pilgrims to head directly to transportation buses upon arrival instead of waiting at baggage claim areas, helping reduce congestion during peak Hajj operations.

Saudi airline Saudia confirmed its participation in the initiative, stating that the service will cover more than 400,000 pilgrims across 145 destinations in cooperation with government and logistics partners.

Saudi Post has also joined the project to provide transportation and delivery services for luggage within and outside the Kingdom. According to officials, the initiative is expected to handle nearly 1.1 million bags from seven countries participating in the Makkah Route Initiative, with luggage delivery to hotels planned within 24 hours of arrival.
