Federal Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi informed the National Assembly that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recovered 1,141 acres of state land from illegal occupants and land grabbers in Islamabad during the last two years.
The minister shared the details in a written reply to a question raised by MNA Samina Khalid Ghurki regarding measures taken against encroachments on CDA land in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The minister stated that the CDA has been carrying out anti-encroachment operations under a zero-tolerance policy in line with the directives of the federal government. He said the primary objective of these operations is to recover state land from unauthorized occupation and restore it according to the Islamabad Master Plan.
According to the response, the civic authority has continued coercive actions against both temporary and permanent encroachments across various sectors and public spaces of the capital.
Among the major recoveries, the CDA retrieved 612 acres of land in Bari Imam, 74 acres along the right of way of GT Road at Tarnol, and 12 acres from the GT Road Rawat area.
The authority also cleared 11 acres in Margalla Town, seven acres at Rawal Town adjacent to the Korang River, and five acres occupied by scrap dealers at Katcha Stop on UP Road. Another five acres were recovered from a batching plant operating in the green area of Sector F-10.
The minister further informed the House that CDA removed an animal barn spread over nine acres at Kuri Road and cleared encroachments from a seven-kilometer stretch of Potohar Avenue.
He added that obstructive structures built on public footpaths in sectors I-8, D-12, and G-7 were also removed, while the anti-encroachment operation remains ongoing in several areas of the federal capital.
Senator Mohsin Naqvi also disclosed that 203 security cabins and guard posts installed outside plot lines in sectors F-6, F-7, F-8, G-10, and G-11 had been removed during the ongoing campaign.
The government maintained that the crackdown against illegal occupation of CDA land would continue to ensure protection of public property and implementation of the city’s master plan.
