Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has awarded Pakistan’s Hajj Mission the prestigious international excellence award for the second consecutive year, recognizing its strong performance in managing pilgrimage operations and services.
The award was presented to Abdul Wahab Soomro, Director General of the Pakistan Hajj Mission, at a ceremony hosted by Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.
The event was attended by heads of Hajj missions and senior officials from several countries.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, the recognition reflects the successful management of nearly 179,000 Pakistani pilgrims during the recent Hajj season, including around 119,000 under the government scheme and approximately 60,000 through private operators.
The ministry said the Pakistan Hajj Mission received the “Labaytum Excellence Award” in acknowledgment of its effective Hajj management, improved facilities for pilgrims, and overall administrative performance.
Saudi Minister Al-Rabiah praised the arrangements for the 1447H Hajj season, noting that participating countries had improved services through better coordination and the use of technology.
He also announced that preparations for the 1448H Hajj season had officially begun, allowing more time for planning and service enhancements.
Officials from several countries reportedly commended Pakistan’s Hajj Mission, describing its operational model as an example for other nations managing large-scale pilgrimages.
In recent years, Pakistan has introduced various reforms to improve Hajj services, including better accommodation, transportation, food provision, complaint resolution systems, and on-ground guidance for pilgrims.
The back-to-back recognition highlights Pakistan’s growing emphasis on improving efficiency and service delivery in one of its largest annual overseas administrative operations.
