FIFA Announces Free World Cup 2026 Game on Netflix

FIFA is making its gaming return with a new title called FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, set to release on June 11 to coincide with the opening of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The game will be available at no extra cost to all Netflix subscribers, regardless of subscription tier, marking FIFA’s first major football game release since ending its long-running partnership with EA Sports.

Designed as a streamlined football simulation, the title will allow players to select from all 48 national teams taking part in the 2026 World Cup. It will feature all 16 tournament stadiums and more than 1,200 players, offering an officially licensed World Cup experience.

One of its more unusual features is its control system. Players will be able to use their smartphones as controllers and connect to a TV through the Netflix app, with support for solo play as well as local multiplayer for up to four users.

The game has been developed by Delphi Interactive in partnership with Netflix Games. FIFA says the title is meant to be broadly accessible rather than a deep, hardcore football simulator.

The “Launch Edition” branding also hints that this may be the first step in a wider gaming strategy. FIFA has described the release as part of a broader post-EA approach built around multiple partners, platforms, and audiences.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, begins on June 11.
