Lahore has banned the entry of commercial vehicles lacking valid driving licenses, fitness certificates, and proper lights as part of a wider crackdown aimed at improving road safety and enforcing traffic laws.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said only those commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter the city from now on whose drivers carry valid and effective driving licenses.
He said strict action will be taken against commercial vehicles operating without front and rear lights, using high beams improperly, or running without a fitness certificate.
Authorities have also barred loader tractor-trolleys carrying sand, soil, or other materials from using roads without a tarpaulin cover. Immediate legal action has been ordered against violators.
To enforce the decision, traffic police have launched a general hold-up and special checking campaign at the city’s entry and exit points.
Officials said the relevant SPs and DSPs will personally supervise the crackdown to ensure full implementation of traffic rules.
The CTO said Lahore traffic police had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against irresponsible driving and directed all commercial drivers to carry their licenses, fitness certificates, and other required documents to avoid problems during inspections.
