Pakistan Star Batter Undergoes Emergency Surgery

Pakistan batter Maaz Sadaqat has been ruled out for at least two weeks after undergoing a successful laparoscopic appendectomy at a local hospital in Lahore, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

The left-handed batter also missed the National T20 Cup 2025-26 final at Gaddafi Stadium following the medical emergency.

Maaz Sadaqat had recently joined Abbottabad as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman and trained with the squad on Saturday night. However, he complained of severe lower abdominal pain on Sunday morning and was immediately taken to hospital.

Scans later confirmed acute appendicitis, after which doctors, in consultation with the PCB medical team, advised urgent surgery. The procedure was completed successfully.

The PCB said Maaz Sadaqat is now stable, with normal vital signs, and remains under close observation by the board’s medical staff.

The 21-year-old, who recently opened for Pakistan in the ODI series against Australia, was also named among 27 players for the white-ball camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), starting June 15.

He will join the camp only after making a full recovery and receiving clearance from the PCB medical panel.

The PCB has also announced separate red-ball and white-ball training camps at the NCA as part of preparations for upcoming international and domestic assignments, with 49 players set to take part across both programs.
