Punjab Approves Expansion of Family Planning Services Across Province

The Punjab government has approved a series of measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of family planning programs in both urban and rural areas, to expand access to family welfare and reproductive health services.

Under the new initiative, authorities have approved the expansion of Family Welfare Centers across the province to ensure that family planning services reach a larger segment of the population.

The government has also decided to extend the contracts of Community-Based Family Planning Workers and other employees who have been serving under the 2014–2021 population welfare program.

Officials said the move will help maintain continuity in service delivery and ensure the availability of trained personnel.

According to the Department of Health and Population Welfare, relevant institutions have been directed to take the necessary steps to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of Family Welfare Centers.

Administrative and financial arrangements required for the continued employment of family planning workers will also be completed on a priority basis.

Officials believe the measures will improve the delivery of reproductive health and family planning services, particularly in underserved communities across the province.

The Punjab government stated that strengthening family welfare programs remains a key component of its public health strategy and pledged continued support and resources for ongoing initiatives.
