Pakistan to Launch Mobile App for Passport Fee Payments

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) is working with a private bank to introduce a digital payment system for passport and immigration fees.

A delegation from the bank met DGIP Muhammad Ali Randhawa to discuss the rollout of the new cashless payment system.

Under the proposed system, citizens will be able to pay passport and immigration fees directly through a mobile application. The bank has already started developing the required infrastructure for the service.

During the meeting, DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa said digital payments would help make service delivery faster, easier, and more transparent for the public.

Officials from both sides also finalized a mechanism for the digital rollout. The initiative is part of wider efforts to promote a cashless Pakistan and digitize government services under the Prime Minister’s vision.

Authorities said the public would be provided with secure and modern payment facilities, while further steps are also being taken to make immigration services more efficient and user-friendly.

Separately, officials have warned citizens about a fraudulent individual allegedly misusing the Google Maps location of the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad.

According to the advisory, the individual has added personal contact details, including a phone number and email address, to the online location and is unlawfully demanding payments through JazzCash and different bank accounts.

Citizens have been advised not to share personal information or make payments to any such individuals.

Officials said all passport-related information, guidance, and assistance should only be obtained through official channels.
