Pakistan Railways has expanded its privatization plan and decided to auction 15 passenger trains, increasing the number from the previously announced 11 services.
According to officials, all 15 trains will be offered through an open auction scheduled for June 16 at Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore. A formal bidding session has also been arranged for the same day.
As part of the process, Pakistan Railways has suspended advance ticket bookings for all 15 trains included in the privatization program.
Officials said that after the privatization process is completed, ticket sales and reservation operations for the trains will be managed directly by the successful bidders through the existing station booking system.
