The government has allocated Rs. 226.98 billion under the PSDP for FY 2026 for 71 National Highway Authority projects, according to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2025-26.
Out of the total allocation, Rs. 224.83 billion has been earmarked for ongoing schemes, while Rs. 2.15 billion has been set aside for new projects.
The figures show that the government is continuing to prioritize the completion of existing road infrastructure works, with only a small portion of the funding reserved for fresh development.
The survey says the NHA network currently consists of 48 national highways, motorways, and strategic roads stretching over 14,480 kilometers.
The latest allocation will be used to support work across this network, which remains central to cargo movement, regional connectivity, and intercity travel.
The heavy tilt toward ongoing schemes suggests the government is focusing more on sustaining and advancing projects already under construction rather than launching a large number of new ones in the coming fiscal year.
