Karachi’s National Stadium is set for a major upgrade as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) moves ahead with plans to improve the venue’s infrastructure, facilities and spectator experience.
The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat was informed that the planned renovation of Karachi Stadium is estimated to cost around Rs. 4.8 billion, with tenders expected to be opened soon.
Officials also said that building a modern international-standard stadium currently costs between Rs. 12 billion and Rs. 14 billion.
The project aims to turn the Karachi venue into a modern, international-standard stadium capable of hosting major ICC events and providing an improved experience for spectators.
The planned work includes re-profiling spectator stands for better visibility and comfort, building an all-round safety moat, upgrading concourse and circulation areas, improving public convenience facilities, and carrying out civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and external development works.
The renovation is part of broader efforts to upgrade cricket infrastructure in Pakistan. In 2024-25, the PCB had already set aside Rs. 18 billion to upgrade three major venues: National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Dont upgrade the stadium
Just move the stadium out of city
As it is required coz of security, traffic congestion.
PLEASE CONSIDER THE SUGGESTION?????
Billions of Rupees for just renovation?. They should build a multi tier stadium with a capacity of at least 60 thousand for a big city like Karachi...Otherwise we would know that this is just another fraud to get funds and consume tax payers money
