Karachi has announced a comprehensive security plan for Muharram-ul-Haram after a high-level meeting was held at the Rangers Headquarters to review the city’s law and order situation.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and focused on security arrangements for Muharram gatherings, majalis and processions.
Participants reviewed security measures for Muharram processions in detail and approved a comprehensive plan aimed at ensuring peace and public safety during the holy month.
The meeting decided that joint flag marches and snap-checking operations by Rangers and police would be further intensified during Muharram. Officials also emphasized the need to ensure security for gatherings, majalis and processions of all schools of thought.
The DG Rangers directed all concerned agencies to maintain close coordination and strengthen intelligence-sharing mechanisms to proactively counter any potential threats. He also ordered stricter checking at inter-provincial entry and exit points across Sindh.
The meeting further resolved to ensure strict implementation of the approved code of conduct for Muharram.
Law enforcement authorities appealed to members of all schools of thought to cooperate in maintaining peace, harmony and religious tolerance throughout the province during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The public was also urged to immediately report any suspicious activity, miscreants or untoward incidents to deployed Rangers personnel, the Rangers helpline 1101, or the Rangers WhatsApp helpline.
