The United Arab Emirates has announced a 30-day grace period for individuals affected by regional disruptions, allowing them to regularize their status or leave the country without incurring penalties.
According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), the grace period will remain in effect from June 10 to July 9, 2026.
The facility applies to individuals who were previously exempted from overstay fines after being unable to leave the UAE due to exceptional circumstances and travel disruptions in the region.
The ICP said the measure is intended to help affected individuals comply with UAE regulations and either adjust their residency or employment status or depart the country through existing procedures.
The authority noted that the earlier waiver of overstay fines reflected the UAE’s humanitarian approach during the period of regional instability. However, it said the circumstances that led to the exemption no longer exist as stability has returned to the region.
Beneficiaries are not required to complete any preliminary procedures to avail themselves of the grace period. Those wishing to remain in the UAE may update their legal status during the designated period, while others may leave the country without facing penalties.
The ICP urged affected individuals to follow official channels for updates and guidance regarding the available procedures.
