The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance (PGTA) has announced a 15 percent reduction in goods transport fares nationwide following the government’s recent decrease in petroleum prices.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, PGTA President Malik Shehzad Awan welcomed the fuel price reduction, saying it had provided significant relief to transport operators facing rising operational costs.
He said lower fuel prices would help reduce transportation expenses and benefit businesses, traders and consumers across the country.
Awan expressed optimism that petroleum prices could decline further in the coming weeks, creating additional relief for the transport sector and supporting economic activity.
He also urged the government to withdraw the increase in withholding tax introduced in the federal budget and called for reductions in toll taxes, e-challan penalties and other charges affecting transport operators.
Industry representatives believe the reduction in freight charges will help lower logistics costs, improve supply chain efficiency and ease inflationary pressures on goods transported across Pakistan.
