The Punjab government has officially declared public holidays across the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram to facilitate religious observances during Ashura.
According to a notification issued by the provincial government, all government offices, departments and public institutions will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.
The holidays have been announced in view of religious gatherings, majalis, and mourning processions held across the province to commemorate Ashura, one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar.
Provincial authorities said the decision aims to enable citizens to participate in religious activities and observe Muharram rituals with ease and convenience.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened across Punjab, with law enforcement agencies placed on high alert to ensure the peaceful conduct of processions and gatherings during the two-day holiday period.,
