PCB Increases Match Fees for Cricketers

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved a major increase in match fees for national team players as part of its new financial and contractual plans.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where the board unanimously approved the surplus budget for the financial year 2026–27.

During the meeting, the board also approved administrative and financial independence for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), along with the budget for PSL 12. The domestic cricket budget was also increased from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 4 billion.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi approved the new central contract format, the revised payment structure, and the increase in match fees for Pakistan’s national cricketers.

According to sources, players featuring in Test cricket will receive Rs. 1.5 million per match, while ODI players will get Rs. 650,000 and T20I players will receive Rs. 450,000 per match.

Under the new structure, Category A and B will include players involved in Test and ODI cricket. A Category A Test player will receive Rs. 1.5 million per match, while a Category A ODI player will get Rs. 750,000. Category A players featuring in T20Is will receive Rs. 650,000 per match.

For Category B, ODI players will receive Rs. 750,000 per match, while T20I players will get Rs. 500,000. Category C will consist of players mainly picked for T20 cricket, with a match fee of Rs. 500,000. If a Category C player features in an ODI, the same Rs. 500,000 match fee will apply.

The board also approved a major increase in match fees for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy players. Their match fee has been raised from Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 100,000, while reserve players will now receive Rs. 50,000 instead of Rs. 15,000.

In another key decision, the Board of Governors approved women’s ODI and T20 tournaments and allocated funds for their organization. The minimum salary of regional ground staff was also fixed at Rs. 42,000.

The meeting further approved plans to make 12 additional grounds operational. A total of Rs. 6.7 billion was also approved for infrastructure upgrades, including work at the National Stadium and other facilities.

Funds were also allocated for the installation of a biomechanics machine at the High Performance Center in Lahore.
