The Punjab government has handed over more than 15 electric buses to the Murree district administration to promote environmentally friendly public transportation and improve travel facilities for residents and tourists.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said the initiative marks a major step toward introducing modern and sustainable public transport in the hill station. He added that the electric buses will help reduce air pollution and carbon emissions while preserving Murree’s natural environment.
According to the deputy commissioner, the buses will provide safe, comfortable, and affordable transportation for local residents as well as millions of domestic and international tourists who visit Murree each year.
He said the buses feature modern technology designed to enhance the passenger experience. The project also includes the installation of electric charging stations to ensure uninterrupted operations. The electric buses will operate on major roads, tourist attractions, and other busy routes across Murree.
Shirazi said the project reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to improving public services, developing modern urban infrastructure, and promoting environmentally friendly initiatives in Murree.
