Family Members Set 4-Year-Old Girl on Fire to Remove Her Jinn

Police have arrested a mother and her three children in Gujranwala after they set a four-year-old girl on fire in a bid to remove “black magic” and “evil spirits” from her body.

The child sustained severe burns on 50 percent of her body and was shifted to a hospital in Lahore for treatment. According to the initial investigation, the family performed the ritual to free the girl’s soul from supernatural forces.

Following the incident, police registered a case and arrested the girl’s mother, two brothers and a sister. Officials said the family initially resisted the arrest.

In a separate incident, a man in Rawalpindi filed an FIR against a “jinn” for allegedly abducting his 11-year-old son, claiming supernatural entities had taken the boy multiple times in the past.

Further investigation into the Gujranwala case is underway.
