Khyber Tobacco Company Limited (KHTC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s KT&G Corporation to secure a royalty license for the cigarette brand “Pine Passion Sky”, marking a strategic move to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its position in Pakistan’s tobacco market.
Khyber Tobacco is one of Pakistan’s leading cigarette manufacturers, while KT&G is South Korea’s largest tobacco company with operations spanning dozens of international markets.
The partnership comes as tobacco companies increasingly seek licensing and brand collaborations to broaden their offerings and strengthen their presence in competitive markets.
According to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the MoU is the first step toward a formal licensing agreement under which KHTC intends to manufacture and/or market the “Pine Passion Sky” brand in Pakistan and other territories that may be mutually agreed upon. The arrangement remains subject to the execution of definitive agreements, regulatory approvals, and other customary commercial conditions.
The company said a separate announcement will be made through the PSX once the definitive agreement is signed.
Khyber Tobacco added that it expects the proposed collaboration to strengthen its product portfolio, enhance its competitive position, and support future business growth. Additional details will be disclosed if and when the final agreement is executed or other material developments occur.
