Pakistan Issues NOC for Indian Team to Participate in Major Volleyball Event

The Government of Pakistan has officially issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Indian men’s volleyball team to participate in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from July 22 to 29.

The decision is being seen as an important step for regional sports diplomacy and for ensuring the participation of all member countries in one of the biggest international volleyball events ever hosted by Pakistan.

Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob confirmed that Indian authorities had been formally informed after the NOC was issued. He expressed confidence that the Indian team would complete the remaining formalities and travel to Islamabad for the championship.

“The Government of Pakistan has issued the required NOC and the Indian authorities have been informed accordingly. We are hopeful that the Indian team will receive the necessary approvals from its government and participate in the event,” Yaqoob said.

Yaqoob said the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) had earlier contacted the PVF to request a political clearance and security guarantee letter from the Government of Pakistan. These documents were required by the Indian federation to obtain approval from the Government of India and complete visa formalities for the team’s participation.

According to Yaqoob, the Indian federation remained in close contact with the PVF throughout the process. Both sides coordinated to facilitate the Indian team’s participation in the championship.

The PVF chairman said all organizational, logistical and security arrangements for the tournament had been finalized in consultation with the relevant government departments and security agencies. He added that Pakistan was fully prepared to host all participating teams in line with international standards.

Yaqoob described the tournament as one of the most significant volleyball events ever staged in Pakistan. He said the championship would help strengthen Pakistan’s image as a safe and capable host of international sporting competitions.

The event will feature 10 participating nations: Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Maldives and Sri Lanka. Yaqoob said this would make it one of the strongest editions of the CAVA Men’s Championship.

The week-long tournament is expected to provide Pakistan’s national team with valuable exposure against strong regional opponents. It will also give local volleyball fans a chance to watch high-level international competition on home soil.
