Punjab to Lease 4 Acres of Land to Poor Farmers for Rs. 100 Annually

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially inaugurated a landmark initiative to empower landless farmers by allotting 121,000 acres of state-owned cultivable land to 30,000 deserving families.

Under the “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” scheme, each selected family will receive a four-acre plot of agricultural land on a long-term lease for a nominal fee of only Rs100 per year.

In addition to the land, the provincial government will provide Rs200,000 in financial assistance to each family to help them begin cultivation and purchase necessary agricultural inputs.

Speaking at the computerized balloting ceremony in Lahore, the Chief Minister highlighted that the project received over 60,000 applications, including 11,000 from women, reflecting the high demand for economic self-sufficiency.

She emphasized that the allotment process remained strictly merit-based, free from any political pressure or favoritism.

Allotment letters will be issued within a week, and successful applicants will gain physical possession of their land by July 31.

CM Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to social justice, stating that the scheme aims to restore the dignity of poor farmers and boost Punjab’s agricultural productivity by bringing vast tracts of vacant state land under cultivation.
