Hundreds of fish have died in Dhok Talian Dam in Chakwal, with their carcasses floating across the water, prompting concerns among visitors and an official investigation into the incident.
The dead fish have created a strong foul odor around the dam, forcing many tourists to cut short their visits and leave the popular recreational spot without sightseeing.
According to the dam administration, the fish deaths were caused by the ongoing extreme heat. Officials said medicines are being added to the water to protect the remaining fish, while teams are working to remove the dead fish from the dam.
Deputy Commissioner Chakwal has taken notice of the incident and directed the Fisheries Department to investigate the cause of the mass fish deaths. The department has been asked to determine the circumstances behind the incident and take appropriate measures to prevent similar occurrences.
