Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain has launched the National Immigration and Welfare Policy 2026 to improve Pakistan’s labor migration system. The policy focuses on safer migration, stronger worker protections, better skills development, and increased support for overseas Pakistanis.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the minister called the policy a major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s migration framework. He said the government remains committed to protecting the rights and welfare of Pakistanis who seek employment abroad.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the policy promotes safe and orderly migration, expands access to internationally relevant skills, protects workers from exploitation, strengthens engagement with the Pakistani diaspora, and supports the reintegration of returning migrants.
The minister said Pakistan must prepare its workforce for changing global labor market demands. He added that the country should position itself as a leading source of skilled workers for international markets.
He said the new policy provides a roadmap to equip Pakistani workers with the skills, knowledge, and protections they need to succeed abroad while contributing to the country’s economy. Chaudhry Salik Hussain praised overseas Pakistanis for their contribution to Pakistan and said the government considers their welfare and protection a top priority.
He said the policy brings together government institutions, training providers, employers, development partners, and the private sector under a single national strategy to support workers throughout the migration process.
