KP to Inspect Tourist Boats After Rising Drowning Incidents

The Upper Swat district administration has decided to conduct a comprehensive inspection of boats operating at tourist destinations following a series of boating accidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the administration, the survey will assess whether boats meet the required safety standards and identify those that pose a risk to passengers. Boats found unfit or failing to comply with safety requirements will not be allowed to operate.

Officials said the fitness and operational condition of all boats at tourist sites across Upper Swat will be examined to ensure the safety of visitors.

As part of the initiative, the registration of boating services at Mahodand Lake has also begun. Authorities said no boat will be permitted to operate without obtaining a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC).

The district administration is collecting records, documentation, and other relevant information from all boating operators. The data will be submitted to the Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) for verification, certification, and the issuance of NOCs.

Officials said the measures are aimed at making boating activities at Mahodand Lake safer and ensuring they comply with legal and safety regulations to help prevent future accidents.
